A PONTYPOOL student has been chosen to feature in a film for young people in Wales.
Ellis Farrelly, 17, is to appear in a Basic Skills Cymru video called Go For It!, designed to encourage college students to brush up on their basic skills.
The Coleg Gwent City of Newport Campus student is currently studying for an NVQ Level 1 in Welding and Fabrication.
But by night he studies for his GCSE English and Maths resits with Torfaen Adult Basic Skills at the Pontypool Learning Centre.
He said: "It's hard work but I'm really enjoying it.
"It's a grown-up environment, so it's not like going back to school. I want to follow a career in fabrication and welding, so I need to make sure I've got my GCSEs behind me to get the job I want.
Go For It! will be shown throughout Wales at schools, colleges, careers advice centres and Job Centre Plus.
