FIVE brothers originally from Gwent are set to re-unite for a tough charity challenge.
David, Alan, Clive, Colin and Paul Wilmott, originally from Newport, are getting together to walk the 95-mile West Highland Way walk from Glasgow to Fort William.
On their six-day trek through the highlands and moors of Scotland the brothers hope to raise thousands of pounds for the charity Breast Cancer Campaign in memory of Colin Wilmott's wife Gill.
Mr Wilmott, 50, of Croesyceiliog, Cwmbran, has already raised more than £3,200 for St Anne's Hospice and Velindre Hospital in Cardiff in recognition of the staff at both institutions who looked after his wife Gill.
Mrs Wilmott, a former cook at Woodlands Primary school, died aged 50 last August.
The money was raised by mourners at her funeral and a cabaret and auction night at Croesyceiliog rugby club.
Mr Wilmott and his brothers David, 61, of Crawley, Alan, 60, of Cwmbran, Clive, 58, of Edinburgh, and Paul, 41, of Oxford, will set off on their Scottish walk on May 18.
It takes place over rough terrain including Rannock Moor, described as one of the most desolate places in Britain.
The group will stay in hotels and bed and breakfasts.
Mr Wilmott said: "I got into walking after Gill died, it was great therapy for me.
"We are not youngsters so we are going to feel the aches and pains but we are determined to get through it."
The brothers have already raised £1,600 for Breast Cancer Campaign, which funds independent breast cancer research throughout the UK.
They hope to raise more than £3,000 in total.
Alan Wilmott is also raising money for children's cancer and leukaemia charity LATCH in memory of their sister Christine, who died of leukaemia aged 29 in 1980.
