CONSULTANT neurologist Dr Gareth Llewelyn has taken on a new role.
Dr Llewelyn, who is clinical director of neurosciences in Gwent, is the new president of the Newport and District branch of the MS Society.
Ann Hodgson, chairperson of MS Cymru (Wales), welcomed Dr Llewelyn to his role and thanked him for his support for the work of MS in Newport and Wales.
Mrs Hodgson spoke of the work of the Newport Branch in reaching out to people affected by MS and the strategy of MS Cymru (Wales) in putting the pieces together to beat MS.
"We are all working together to provide accurate information and raising standards of care".
Dr Llewelyn stressed the importance of all working together to carry on improving the clinical and supportive services fully deserved by those with MS.
Janice Morgan, chairperson of the Newport branch, thanked Dr Llewelyn, as well as the many medical and service providers at the ceremony, for continuing support.
The Friday morning drop-in centre at the Shaftesbury Community Centre is one of the successes of the branch which provides an important opportunity for people affected by MS and supporters to get together informally.
