THIS epic tale of Liverpool life has been running in London's West End since July 1988 and touring the UK since 1995.

Blood Brothers, written by Willy Russell, tells the moving story of twin boys separated at birth only to be re-united by a twist of fate and a mother's haunting secret.

The memorable score includes A Bright New Day', Marilyn Monroe' and the emotionally charged hit Tell Me It's Not True'.

Having successfully played the part in both the West End and on tour, Linda Nolan returns to the lead role of Mrs Johnston, a young mother, who is deserted by her husband and left on her own to provide for seven children.

She discovers that she is pregnant again this time with twins and in a moment of desperation, enters a secret pact with her employer.

This intelligent musical explores issues such as fatalism, birthright, morality, temptation & human frailities in all their glory, the main characters demand our compassion for their plight, as they reveal the difficulties of life when born on the wrong side of the tracks in Sixties Liverpool.

Yet, despite the glimpses of pathos & poverty, the rough spots & the social divide, the show somehow remains up-beat despite its heavy subject matter, thanks in large part to Liverpudlian dry wit & good-natured humour in the toughest of times.

One of the main strengths is the superb characterisation of the characters as children by the adult actors, who then grow' into the older versions of themselves.

The child-like mannerisms were appealingly authentic. The gritty script is compelling & the powerful music gets under your skin & lingers there long after curtain-down.

If you haven't booked your seat already, ring the box office now - you will be guaranteed a truly satisfying & memorable night of first-class musical theatre entertainment.

Runs until Saturday 3rd May.
