A highly successful St David's Day celebration at Cross Ash school raised more than £300 for charity.
The sale of daffodils raised £34.65 for the Marie Curie Fund, the sale of rugby badges and dragons raised £146 for St David's Foundation Hospice, and the sale of Easter chicks for Velindre Hospital made £136.20.
The winning castle this year was Whitecastle, while neighbouring Skenfrith castle won the choir competition.
An added attraction was that many children turned up in costume for the traditional eisteddfod.
In the meantime, the Eco Council organised a very successful tea party at the school and raised £193 for Fair Trade, whose representative visited Year 6 classes.
The school hopes to become a Fair Trade school in the near future.
