COMMUNITY LAND: A group of Grosmont people are exploring the potential for developing community-owned outdoor space within or around the village. Ideas for a land focal point in the village will be welcome by the group, who are researching and visiting other communities who have already initiated such schemes. Examples could include orchards and planting woodland, allotments or shared garden space, protected environment and ecology, access to wild spaces and recreational space, and community land trust and agriculture.

PLAYGROUP: A playgroup and toddler group to cater for children from birth to four is being run at Cross Ash village hall. Organisers offer a two-year topics programme, an informal pre-school link programme and a free introductory session. The playgroup meets on Mondays, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9.30am-45pm, with a lunch club from 12.30pm-1.15pm. The toddler group meets on Tuesdays from 10am-12-midday. PLANT SALE: Contributions such as surplus plants are needed for a plant sale at Grosmont town hall on Tuesday May 6, starting at 7.30pm. Organisers plan to make it a social evening, which will include home-made refreshments, for an admission of £1.

BY CANDLELIGHT: The candlelit St James Church at Llangua, between the A465 road and the River Monnow, holds Holy Communion services at 8.45am on the third Sunday of each month. Further information by calling 01981 240242.
