FLOWER arrangers from across South Wales and the west country descended on Newport this week in preparation for the forthcoming festival of flowers held at St Woolos cathedral.
The arrangers are in the city for two days, making their designs to fit around the cathedral for November's festival, titled Joy to the World.
It will feature more than 80 designs with a Christmas theme, including ones based on the twelve days of Christmas.
The festival of flowers is expected to attract around 2,000 visitors a day over the four days it will be at the cathedral.
Fr Mark Soady said: "We are looking forward to it very much, we are very excited about it."
He added: "I think it will introduce people to the cathedral who otherwise might not have come, hopefully, they will come again in future.
"It also brings people to Newport and they will see other sights, it would give a boost to the city."
The festival is held at different Cathedrals each year, Hereford hosted the event last and attracted thousands of visitors each day.
- Joy to the World is held between November 27 - 30.
