A YOUNG Gwent mother died instantly after being thrown from a car, an inquest heard today.

Kaylee Goddard, 20, was killed during the early hours of April 20 after the car she was travelling in crashed.

The mum of two was sitting in the front passenger seat of a Ford Scorpio, which crashed on the A467 at the junction of Roseheyworth Business Park.

Yesterday, Gwent coroner David Bowen opened the inquest into her death. He said Ms Goddard, who was mother to son Dylan and daughter Courtney, suffered massive head injuries, consisting of a fractured skull, intracranial hemorrhage and cerebral contusion.

Following the accident, Ms Goddard's devastated family paid tribute to a "beautiful, loving mother, daughter, sister and granddaughter".

She was "loved by all her family including her partner Luke and her two children" and will be "greatly missed by all her loving family and friends."

Dozens of floral tributes mark the accident stop on Abertillery and tributes were left on the Argus website describing her as a 'ray of sunshine' and a 'great friend.' During the same weekend an Abergavenny couple were also killed in an accident.

The two occupants of a black Saab - Nicholas Charles Fermor (cor) and Susan Caroline Fermor - died when their car collided with a Black Subaru Impreza at 12.30pm on Sunday, April 20.

The accident occurred outside the Hardwick restaurant on the B4589, Abergavenny.

The driver of a green Rover, a woman in her eighties, which is believed to have been on the road at the time of the accident, was arrested in connection with the accident.

The woman was bailed over the weekend.
