A MAN died this morning following an accident at a Newport factory.
The lorry driver, who was visiting the Sims Group Metal site from an external contractor, died after an accident as he prepared to unload a truck.
Police and fire crews were called to the incident shortly after 8am this morning.
A South Wales Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said three crews attended to a report that a man was trapped at the Alexandra Dock factory.
The Health and Safety Executive have been notified.
A spokeswoman for Sims said: "Sims Group takes health and safety at work extremely seriously and has commenced its own inquiry into the incident. The thoughts of everyone at Sims in Newport are very much with the man's next of kin."
The firm recycles metal and electrical waste.
