As a parent of three young children, I am frequently subjected to the delights of childrens TV channels and in particular the channels CBeebies and Nick Jnr.

Perhaps one of the more popular programmes on these channels is Lazytown , the adventure series which promotes healthy living developed by Iceland's Magnus Scheving (who also plays Sportacus in the TV Series).

I was intrigued when I heard this hi-tech TV series that features songs, dancing, special effects and acrobatics , had been developed into a live show for children and really wondered how the TV series could work on the stage.

When the curtains pulled back at St David's Hall on Friday, however , any worries I had were firmly put to the back of my mind.

The audience were taken on a virtual air trip from Cardiff to Lazytown via the screen on the stage which then pulled back to reveal a replica set of Lazytown itself.

The following 90 minutes saw two tv episodes given the stage treatment, involving Stephanie's arrival in LazyTown and Sportacus' Sports day competition against Robbie Rotten's Roboticus to become the town's only super-hero.

Kimberly Pena successfully recreated the energetic role of Stephanie for the stage, while Nathan Guy as Stingy and Tina Waller as Ziggy helped introduce comedy to the proceedings.

Undoubtedly the stars of the show had to be Julian Essex-Spurrier as Sportacus and Scott Joseph as a very convincing foil Robbie Rotten. Spurrier's acrobatics mesmerised the audience really bringing Sportacus to life and these were closely replicated by the equally talented Vladimir Hub who played Roboticus.

The casts interaction with the audience throughout the show was brilliant having mums and dads joining in with the proceedings as well as the children, proving that Lazytown Live! really was fun for all the family.
