A FUNERAL service for Newport councillor and former police officer Lloyd Delahaye will be held on Tuesday.
Cllr Delahaye, who was due to seek a third term on the city council at this week's elections, died last week at the age of 64.
A requiem mass is taking place at 10am in St David Lewis RC Church, Bettws, where he was a regular worshipper.
It will be followed by cremation at Gwent Crematorium.
Cllr Delahaye, who represented the Bettws ward, was cabinet member for public affairs.
He leaves his wife Val, children Emma and Edward, and four grandchildren.
Tributes were paid to Cllr Delahaye by his Labour ward colleagues, Glyn Jarvis and Noel Trigg, and his Conservative opposite number on the council, Cllr Peter Davies, who described him as a "gentleman".
Gwent Police also put a notice in the Argus saying the Chief Constable and members of the force had received the news of his death with "deep regret".
The election for the three seats in the Bettws ward has now been postponed until a later date.
St Julian's voters will also face a delay in selecting their three councillors following the death of Cllr Pat Bull, 66, last week.
