A SIX-YEAR-OLD Doctor Who fan enjoyed a dream meeting with one of his heroes when he met David Tennant when a Christmas Special was filmed in Newport.
Theo Bishop, from Llantarnam, met the Doctor when the episode was being filmed at Tredegar House last Friday. He waited patiently with around 12 other fans whilst rehearsals were taking place hoping to meet the Doctor.
And Theo was rewarded after a member of the production crew asked Mr Tennant if he was able to take time out chat with his waiting fans.
"It was a great night. Theo absolutely loves the programme, David Tennant puts so much enthusiasm into the character and the series is so well written." his dad Gary Bishop said.
"It was brilliant how he spoke to the children, he crouched down so he was speaking to them at their level and it's something Theo will never forget."
The Malpas Church in Wales school pupil is the proud owner of a number of Doctor Who replica suits, including the dinner suit worn in last year's Christmas special when Mr Tennant starred alongside Kylie Minogue.
"He'll wear the suits when he sits down to watch it on telly. But if the scene changes and David Tennant isn't wearing his suit then Theo has a T shirt on underneath so he can change as well," Mr Bishop said.
"Many people might think it's a strange obsession but he's just a young boy."
Theo explained to the Doctor about the number of suits he owned and David Tennant signed his autograph before telling Theo he didn't have his sonic screwdriver to hand because it was very precious and he was always breaking it.
Whilst Theo was waiting for the Doctor he was interviewed about the show by Doctor Who Magazine.
Mr Bishop said the scene being filmed at Tredegar House involved many Victorian artefacts, artificial snow and a hot air balloon.
Other scenes filmed around Newport include Cybermen at St Woolos cemetery, captured by our Argus photographer.
