THE funeral of Pill community stalwart George Bullock will be held in Devon next Wednesday and arrangements are being made to transport as many Newportonians to the service as possible.
Coaches are being organised to take mourners to the service at Our Lady's Star of the Sea Church, Ilfracrombe. The service will begin at 2:30 pm.
The family left Newport following the death of Mr Bullock's step-son Lemy who was murdered in 2005. They resettled in Ilfracombe on the north Devon coast, but the unfortunate tragedy for th Bullock family did not end there.
In September 2006 Mr Bullock's nine-month-old grandson Nico, also died following a rare form of cancer, now Mr Bullock's body will be laid to rest in the same cemetery.
He died on Sunday aged 70, after a long battle with oesophagus and stomach cancer.
He was well known and respected throughout Pill for his voluntary work including his work with young people and establishing the first Pill carnival.
Transport arrangements to the funeral are currently being made by Jane Lewis, Ms Lewis would like to numbers as soon as possible so coaches can be reserved, anyone wishing to go should call Ms Lewis on 07814670823.
