A NEWPORT man was convicted of carrying out a burglary campaign.
Farayad Ali, 35, was involved in committing offences between June and October last year in Newport, prosecutor Suzanne Thomas told Cardiff crown court.
Ali, of Commercial Road, Newport, was found guilty of burgling a house in Phillip Street, Newport and stealing jewellery worth £500, receiving stolen jewellery worth £320, burgling a house in Kirby Lane, Newport, with intent to steal and handling stolen coins.
Ms Phillips said that the home of Mark Wootton in Dewsland Park Road, Newport, was broken into when he was on holiday in Crete and valuable coins were taken.
These later came into the possession of Ali.
He said that Ali broke into the home of Mark Davies in Phillips Street, Newport, through a ventilation window.
He made off with a quantity of jewellery and left behind his fingerprints.
The home of Deborah Edwards, in Castle Crescent, was burgled, but not by Ali, and a gold chain and other items were taken. Later Ali came into possession of the property.
Ali made efforts to sell the chain in a shop in Newport.
On another occasion Ali burgled a house in Kirby Lane where Rashida Stock was lying ill in bed.
Ali walked into the room before fleeing. She gave a description to police who later arrested him.
He said all the allegations were untrue and he had not committed any crimes.
Sentence was adjourned for reports and he was remanded in custody.
