A British soldier from Gwent, killed in a high-speed paragliding crash in Spain has been named.
Major Alex Blake of the Royal Logistic Corps, is thought to have been killed instantly after smashing into a tree during a military exercise in the Cenes de la Vega resort on Wednesday.
It is believed the accident happened after Major Blake, 35, attempted a manoeuvre in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountain range.
Major Blake, a father of two, was an ammunition technical officer and had previously served in Northern Ireland, Bosnia, Kosovo and Iraq.
Major Blake had recently returned from operational duty in Iraq.
