The prestigious Caldicot Male Voice Choir revisited the beautiful Romsey Abbey in Hampshire on Saturday, April 12, to perform another concert with the Michelmersh Silver Band. The concert was opened by the band and under the baton of conductor Lawrence Butchart with Prelude On Tallis by Peter Graham, followed by The Thieving Magpie, and concluding with Georgia On My Mind.

The choir opened their account with Rachie arranged by Alwyn Humphries, followed by The Gypsy arranged by Noel Davies, Portrait Of My Love arranged by Alan Simmons and finishing their first stint with Sit Down You're Rockin The Boat, again arranged by Alan Simmons. The choir was conducted throughout by musical director Sian Hatton and Shirley Ann James, and the accompaniment was a joint effort from Stephen Berry and John Nicholson.

The band's second arrival opened with Steve Sykes' Caravan, Paul Lovatt-Cooper's An Untold Story, and finishing with Philip Sparke's A Klezmer Karnival.

The first half of the concert was brought to a conclusion by Caldicot Male Voice Choir with Arwel Hughes' Tydi A Roddaist, May You Always Have A Song by Allbrecht and Alhouse, Myfanwy by Joseph Parry and concluding with John Nicholson's arrangement of One Moment In Time.

The second half of the concert was opened by the choir with Alan Simmons' arrangement of Sinatra Medley and concluding with Teena Chinn's arrangement of You Raise Me Up. The band played The Melody Shop arranged by David Hirst, Thomas Wyss' arrangement of Ave Maria, and The Second Waltz by Alan Fernie.

The finale was commenced by the choir with She arranged by Alan Simmons, Haydn James' O Gymru, Let It Be Me by Gilbert Becaud, and finishing with An American Trilogy arranged by M Newbury. Choir and band joined together with Emrys Jones' Morte Christe with the band completing the concert with The Gael arranged by Andrew Duncan.

The concert was a superb performance by both choir and band with the wonderful pure acoustics of the Abbey totally enhancing the quality of the sound.
