Tennis Club Quiz: Usk Athletic Club pavilion was packed re cently for a quiz organised by the tennis club, which raised £460 for club funds. Organiser Ros Hawke said, "We would like to thank Ruth and Phil Terrett, our wonderful quiz masters, all the members of the Ladies" committee for the great buffet, and all the helpers, especially the bar staff. Our next quiz will be in October.

Nature Walk: Usk Conser-vation and Environmental Group has organised a walk in the Tintern areafor Sunday May 4. Walkers are to meet at Tintern Abbey car park - hopefully having arranged car-shares to get there - at 10.30am. The walk will be led by naturalist Colin Titcombe and all age groups are welcome. Walkers should bring a packed lunch and wear suitable clothing for the weather conditions on the day. For more information contact Graham on 01873 852108.

Memorial Hall AGM: The AGM for Usk Memorial Hall will be on Wednesday May 7 at the hall, starting at 7.30pm. All residents of Usk are welcome to attend. Current chairman Jeff Mitchell said, "After successfully extending and improving the hall a couple of y ears ago, it is in almost constant use and is a great asset to the community. We are now looking at further upgrading and improvements to keep in line with health and safety practice and to ensure the hall remains a quality v enue for townspeople."

He went on, "We are therefore ve ry keen for new people to come forward to join the committee who would be enthusiastic participants in the exciting project we have lined up. Anyone with ideas for fundraising or improvements that could be made is very welcome to come to the AGM on May 7"
