FORMER Blaenau Gwent council leader John Hopkins said was pleased to retain his seat in Brynmawr.
Councillor Hopkins stepped down as leader earlier this year - he said ahead of a move to oust him by members of the Labour group.
But he remained loyal to his party.
He said: "I'm pleased to be re-elected. I've been loyal to Labour because otherwise your integrity Is open to question.
"In politics you have to take the rough with the smooth."
