CWMBRAN will be starting its countdown to Christmas next month with its annual family Christmas Light Switch On event.
This year’s Christmas Light Switch On is taking place in the Cwmbran Centre on Saturday, November 25.
The event will be on all day and be packed with festive activities for all the family, with acts and fun things to do available from 12pm in Gwent Square.
The activities include face-painting, gift-wrapping in Market Square, and getting pictures taken with the Cwmbran Centre elves.
Children will even be able to catch Father Christmas himself going around the square on his Christmas Train Parade from 4.30pm.
Santa’s Grotto will also be open on the day from 4.30-6.30pm, for lots of youngsters to visit the man in red.
There will be plenty of live music and dancing performances on throughout the day for you to enjoy, as well as lots of Christmas-themed local stalls for you to explore.
Miss Newport 2023, Lydia Evans, will be kicking the event off at noon, and later sharing her story of victory, as well as explaining how people can support her as she goes for Miss Great Britain.
There will be a special guest in Britain’s Got Talent finalist and Cwmbran native Travis George who will be entertaining the crowds with some festive tunes before the big light switch on at 5pm.
The event schedule is as follows:
11:45am – Lydia Evans (Miss Newport 2023) will be kicking the day off.
12pm – Piping Hot Cwmbran Piping Band are performing and will be leading the parade later in the day!
12:30pm – Nany Celyn Primary School will be showcasing a singing performance.
1pm – Swn y Gan Choir are here to get us in the Christmas spirit with some Christmas songs and hymns.
2pm – Everyone’s favourite ‘The Voice of Tom Jones’ is here singing the well-known classics!
3pm – Local SL Dance Academy will be putting on a festive dance performance.
4pm – Our star of the day Travis George will be showcasing his singing talents!
4:30pm – Lydia Evans is back on the stage telling us all about her Miss Newport story and how to support her as she runs for Miss Great Britain
