There are set to be several overnight road closures on the M4 around Newport and the Prince of Wales bridge this week.
Several parts of the M4 will either be fully or partially closed due to roadworks as early as tonight.
With Christmas twelve days away, roads are expected to be busier than usual due to people travelling for shopping or festive events and drivers are warned to plan accordingly.
These are the sections of the M4 that will experience road closures over the next two days.
M4 – Both directions, junction 23 to Prince of Wales Bridge: The M4 from junction 23, Rogiet to the Prince of Wales Bridge, will be affected by closures in both directions from tonight, until Friday, December 15.
The carriageway in both directions be closed from 10pm tonight until 6am on Thursday, December 14 and will reclose at 10 pm until 6am on Friday, December 15.
Diversions will be in place via the M48 Severn Bridge.
M4 – Westbound, junction 24: The Tunnel between Junction 24 Coldra and Junction 28 Tredegar Park will be closed overnight between 8pm tonight and 6am on Thursday, December 14.
The closure is due to maintenance work.
M4 – Sliproad, Eastbound, junction 26: The M4 slip road at Junction 26 Malpas eastbound will be closed overnight on Thursday, December 14, from 10pm until 6am on Friday, December 15 due to ongoing maintenance work.
