A FAMILY Blaenavon gastropub has been crowed the best family restaurant in the country.
Butterflies Bar & Kitchen said they were ‘over the moon’ to win the Best Family Restaurant in Wales at the prestigious Welsh Restaurant Awards.

Mr Watkins who has worked at the restaurant since he was 15 put their success down to Butterflies having a ‘wonderful cosy and homely feel.’
Mr Watkins said: It’s been a bumper year for awards this year. Over the moon to have won Best Family Restaurant tonight at the Welsh Restaurant Awards for the whole of Wales.
“Our team work incredibly hard and gaining such prestigious recognition makes all of the hard work worthwhile.
“Our restaurant is special because it has a wonderful cosy and homely feel. I’ve worked at the restaurant since I was 15 so next year will be my 18th year.
“I took the business over in 2015 and this year we purchased the freehold from the previous owners. I know many of our customers on a personal basis and we owe everything to them for the success of our business.
“We have a long waiting list for tables, and we welcome over 700 customers a week from South Wales and beyond.”
The restaurant also thanked all those who voted for them.
This is not the first award the gastropub has been crowned with this year with the restaurant also winning Best Dining Experience at the Welsh Hospitality Awards and Best in South Wales 2022.
