A NEWPORT coffee shop has made an application to serve alcohol.

Esquires Coffee opened at Celtic Springs Business Park, in Duffryn on the A48 between the Tredegar Park roundabout and Cardiff, in April.

The company signed a 10-year lease for the property and now Aliza Brew Limited has made an application to Newport Council to sell alcohol between 6am and 9pm.

The shop is currently open from 7am to 5.30pm on Monday to Saturday and 9am to 4pm on Sundays.

On opening, a statement said that Esquires Coffee had “completed large scale improvements to the unit by opening up the side, adding windows and outdoor seating”.
