A ROUND-UP of recent cases heard at Newport Magistrates’ Court.
KYLE MCCARTHY, 22, of Bailey Crescent, Garndiffaith, Pontypool was banned from driving for six months for riding a motorcycle without insurance on Hospital Road on February 6.
He must pay £1,014 in a fine, costs and a surcharge.
JOSHUA EDMUNDS, 20, of Meadow Close, Pengam, Blackwood was banned from driving for 18 months after he pleaded guilty to drink driving with 85 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath on Cliff Road on September 6.
He must pay £602 in a fine, costs and a surcharge.
CALLUM CANNINGS-BUSHELL, 33, of Hocker Hill Street, Chepstow was banned from driving for six months after he failed to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a vehicle who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence.
He must pay £1,014 in a fine, costs and a surcharge.
AARON COOK, 35, of Oakdale Path, St Dials, Cwmbran was jailed for 14 days after he admitted sending voice recordings and text messages that were grossly offensive or of an indecent, obscene or menacing character on September 10.
He was made the subject of a two-year restraining order and must pay £85 costs.
HARLEY SOUTHWAY, 32, of Gwent Terrace, Nantyglo was sentenced to a community order and banned from driving for 20 months after pleading guilty to drug driving with cocaine and a cannabis derivative in his blood on Gard Road on March 12.
He was made the subject of a six-week electronically monitored curfew between 7pm and 7am and must pay a £114 surcharge and £85 costs.
TIM CROTHERS, 63, of Valley View, Cefn Hengoed, Caerphilly was banned from driving for speeding at 49mph in a 40mph zone on the A472 in Lower Race, Pontypool on February 6.
He must pay £322 in a fine, costs and a surcharge.
KYLE ANTHONY BYRNE, 34, of Caerwent Road, St Cadoc's, Pontypool must pay £398 in a fine, costs and a surcharge for speeding at 62mph in a 50mph zone on the M4 motorway between Junction 25 and Junction 24 on the A449 slip road on February 26.
His driving record was endorsed with three points.
CARLA SOFIC DUARTE, 44, of Malpas Road, Newport must pay £1,014 in a fine, costs and a surcharge for failing to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a vehicle who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence.
Her driving record was endorsed with six points.
DEAN WILLIAMS, 50, of William Lovett Gardens, Newport must pay £146 in a fine, costs and a surcharge for speeding at 58mph in a 50mph zone on the M4 motorway between Junction 25 and Junction 24 on the A449 slip road on February 27.
His driving record was endorsed with three points.
IEUAN ROBBINS, 31, of Factory Close, Brynmawr must pay £1,014 in a fine, costs and a surcharge for failing to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a vehicle who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence.
His driving record was endorsed with six points.
DARREN JONES, 44, of Varteg Road, Varteg, Pontypool must pay £304 in a fine, costs and a surcharge for speeding at 58mph in a 50mph zone on the A465 in Monmouthshire on February 25.
His driving record was endorsed with three points.
ROBERT CUSHING, 35, of Partridge Road, Llanhilleth was banned from driving for 12 months after he pleaded guilty to drug driving with a cannabis derivative in his blood on Mining School Hill, Crumlin on July 7, 2022.
He must pay £365 in a fine, costs and a surcharge.
JONATHAN DAY, 40, of High Street, Blaenavon was banned from driving for 14 months after he pleaded guilty to drink driving with 44 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath on the Gateway Bridge, Brynmawr on September 4.
He must pay £253 in a fine, costs and a surcharge.
