An event to raise awareness about the environmental challenges facing the River Wye is being held in Chepstow this month.
The free event, organised by Chepstow Town Council, with Mark Gillett, of Chepstow Harriers and the Friends of the River Wye, will take place at the town's Drill Hall on October 13 from 2.30pm to 5pm.
It aims to bring together communities, environmental experts, and enthusiasts for a fun afternoon of learning, action, and community spirit.
There will be a range of activities and educational opportunities designed to build more understanding and support for the river.
Speakers will include representatives from Friends of the River Wye, Citizen Scientists, and Kate Strong, a climate adventurer, multiple world record holder, World Champion triathlete, and former aerospace engineer.
Interactive stalls will be set up, allowing visitors to meet and learn from groups such as Friends of the River Wye, Citizen Scientists, SARA, Gwent Wildlife Trust, Forest of Dean Water Improvement Group, Transition Chepstow and more.
Mark Gillett, of Chepstow Harriers, will spend the weekend running the 136-mile length of the River Wye from its source at Plynlimon to Chepstow.
The run, which he is undertaking on October 12 and 13, is due to finish near The Drill Hall during the event. It is hoped those present will cheer him over the finish line and learn more about his inspiring journey and efforts to support the river.
The River Wye event is free to attend. For more information on how to book tickets contact Chepstow Town Council.
