GWENT Police have revealed the top 20 places where you’re most likely to be caught speeding.
The figures have just been released after the force received a Freedom of Information request – is your area on the list?
30,437 Notice of Intended Prosecutions (NIPs) for speeding were dished out in Gwent over the last financial year between April 6, 2023 and April 5, 2024.
That’s a whopping 60% increase from the 2022/2023 figure of 19,008.

There were 22,923 NIPs issued in 2021/2022.
The most recent data shows that the speeding hotspot of Gwent is in Newport on the A48 SDR at the westbound junction with Usk Way.
A fixed camera there caught out 8,927 drivers in 2023/2024.
The second most likely place to pick up a fine is on the A472 at Lower Race in Pontypool where a fixed camera flashed 4,401 motorists.
The third is also in Newport, this time on the A467 near the Tregwilym Road flyover which left 2,449 people receiving a NIP letter in the post after being clocked by a mobile camera.
Thousands of tickets were also issued at various points along the M4 motorway in Newport where average speed cameras operate.

In the UK, the minimum penalty for speeding is a £100 fine and three penalty points added to your licence.
Drivers may be disqualified from driving if you build up 12 or more penalty points within a period of three years.
