GWENT POLICE launch appeal to identify woman who may be able to help with enquires into alleged 'spiritual ritual' fraud.

Officers want to identify the woman pictured in CCTV footage to help with enquiries after a report of fraud. 

The appeal to identify the woman appeared on the TV show Crimewatch which shares unsolved cases and appeals.

Three unknown women have reportedly taken a significant amount of money and jewellery in exchange for organising a spiritual ritual.

The three women are described as having short black hair, aged between 30 and 50 with the ability to speak cantonese.

Three women allegedly befriended a 73-year-old woman while in Newport city centre and offered to organise a ritual. 

The ritual to 'to help keep the victim and her family safe' was offered in exchange for money, said Gwent Police.

Enquiries have been carried out by officers who are now asking for help to identify this woman.

The woman was seen in the area and may be able to help, say Gwent Police.

In a post on social media, Gwent Police shared the CCTV footage of the woman walking into a shop.
