WALES is known to get its fair share of Royal visitors over the years and in the 1980s, it was no exception.

During the 1980s, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, Prince Richard and Birgitte van Deurs Henriksen, visited Gwent on a number of royal engagements.

They visited areas including Newport, Caerleon, Chepstow and Abertillery, meeting key members of the local councils and army officers as part of their engagements.

Check through our gallery of visits to Gwent from the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester to take al little trip down memory lane.
