Shoppers across Newport have been warned by fundraising experts that they could miss out on donating up to £76 million to charities and good causes during this year's Black Friday sales.
Easyfundraising is urging shoppers to make their purchases via its website or app, turning online deals into free donations for charities and good causes – at no extra cost to them.
The data experts from easyfundraising have revealed that up to £76 million could be raised for charities if more shoppers used the platform for their Black Friday deals.
Charities and good causes which have already benefitted include: Newport County AFC Supporters Trust which received more than £25,000 in free donations; Sparkle Appeal in Rogerstone received £6,100 via easyfundraising; and Usk New Start Cat Rescue, based in Risca, has received more than £4,000 to date.
James Moir, CEO of easyfundraising said: “Microdonations with easyfundraising are already catching on in Newport with thousands having already signed up.
“Now we are in the countdown to Christmas there has never been a better time to get involved. Whether it’s that last minute gift or that deal you’ve been waiting all year for, this Christmas you could count yourself amongst the already two million Brits giving their online purchases more power.
"Imagine the difference even the smallest of donation could make to drive change in Newport.”
