THE SITE of a former car garage in Chepstow could be turned into a new care home if outline proposals go ahead.
Care development company Castleoak propose to redevelop the Racecourse Garage site on the Usk Road and Lawrence Road into a 60-bed nursing home.
The site, which measures just over one acre, would have a two-story purpose-built nursing home with gardens and 14 car parking spaces.
Castleoak say the home would improve the gateway into Chepstow and create between 60 and 90 jobs for local people.
Steve Bucknell, development director at Castleoak, said there are currently 17 care homes in Monmouthshire and that by 2010 need for care home beds will exceed supply The proposal will go to public consultation in early November.
