THREE NEWPORT males charged with the robbing a taxi driver, allegedly with an Uzi submachine gun, were remanded in custody.
Steven Gorry, 21, of Bryn Bevan, Brynglas, David Taylor, 18, of Trent Road, Bettws and a 17-year-old appeared in Newport crown court charged with robbery, possession of a firearm with intent and possession of an imitation firearm with intent.
Gorry and the 17-year-old admitted robbery, but denied the two firearms charges and Taylor pleaded not guilty to all three charges.
The three men were arrested in connection with the robbery of a 61-year-old taxi driver in Brynglas Court, Newport on Friday, August 1 at around 1.40am. Around £28 is alleged to have been stolen during the incident.
Judge Roderick Denyer adjourned Taylor’s case until October 17 and Gorry and the 17-year-old’s until October 31.
