A Gwent fitness instructor who put on five stone while she was pregnant discovered a novel way to lose the post-baby flab - by pushing her child's buggy.
Clare Wheeler, 32, from Newport, started "Buggyfit" sessions after struggling to lose weight after the birth of her first child.
She had been working as a fitness instructor at Fitness First in Newport before she became pregnant with Emily, now two, and weighed 10 stone.
After the birth she discovered she had gone up to 15 stone, and despite attempts to lose weight she found it hard to make time for exercise with a young child to look after.
“As a new mum everyone talks about wanting to lose their belly,” Mrs Wheeler said.
“My husband didnÕ’t get home from work until late so it meant paying for Emily to go to a creche if I wanted to go to the gym.”
She had heard about Buggyfit classes being run in other cities and while pregnant with her second child, Harry, now three months old, started running her own weekly sessions in Newport, Cwmbran and Cardiff in April.
Buggyfit enables women to take their children with them to an exercise class, and the sessions involve power-walking and jogging through parks with their buggies.
