With the move from Sudbrook to Caldicot complete, children and staff at Ysgol Y Ffin have now settled into their new surroundings.
Children in the reception class and the new nursery unit are enjoying their first experiences of Welsh Medium education and of being part of a small but friendly school.
Some youngsters in years five and six recently spent the weekend at the Urdd camp, Llangarnnog. The children had the opportunity to take part in various activities including swimming, horse riding, skiing, tobogganing, obstacle course, games, dancing and much more. Teachers Mr Balbini, Miss Evans and Miss Atkins accompanied the children.
Head Teacher, Mrs Ebo, said, “I’m very grateful to the teachers for giving up their weekend to accompany the children. Through their willingness to do so the children had a wonderful opportunity to mix with their peers from other welsh medium schools in the county and develop team-building skills and new friendships.” The school also took part in the national ‘Jeans for Genes’ fund-raising day for genetic research charities. Children and staff paid £1 each to wear their jeans to school for the day.
