A Gwent limousine company will have its licence revoked after using unlicensed vehicles and drivers.
Go-Stretch Limited, based in Undy, heard owners Scott and Julie Demaret "used vehicles illegally on several occasions", Wales Traffic Commissoner Nick Jones told an inquiry yesterday.
Traffic Examiner Mark Cull told the inquiry of three occasions on which Go-Stretch limousines were stopped by police and found not to have the required licence.
Vehicles for nine or more passengers must have a Public Service Vehicle Operating Licence, which Go-Stretch had not provided for its vehicles on two of these occasions.
In April 8, 2004, one of the company’s limousines was found to be carrying 10 passengers without a PSV licence.
Go-Stretch was found guilty of operating without a PSV licence and a Certificate of Initial Fitness.
In 2006, the company was fined £800 at Cardiff magistrates court.
Another Go-Stretch vehicle was stopped in Bristol on November 12, 2004, and the company fined £1,800 for the same two offences at Bristol magistrates.
In November 2006, police stopped a Go-Stretch limousine in Cardiff and found the driver, Christian Harris, from Chepstow, was not licensed to drive such a high numbers of passengers.
The vehicle had a PSV licence but no Certificate of Initial Fitness. Go-Stretch was fined £7,500 over those incidents.
The inquiry heard during their application for a PSV licence, which was granted in April 2006, Go-Stretch had failed to inform them of ongoing legal proceedings.
The inquiry also heard one of the company’s stretch-limousines burst into flames in Bristol in February.
Mr Jones said Mrs Demaret had asked to surrender the Go-Stretch licence because the company no longer operated.
Mr Jones said he would be revoking Go-Stretch’s licence, and disqualifying its operators.
