NEWPORT is the setting for the latest chapter in one of south Wales' most successful business success stories in recent years - the rise of financial services company Admiral Group.
The first 30 recruits have begun work at the firm's new office on the city's Langstone Business Park, and it hopes that within three years 450 people will be employed there.
The Langstone site is Admiral Group's third in Wales, following Cardiff and Swansea. Thirty-eight existing staff from these offices have also relocated to the Newport site, which will primarily house a claims department.
Admiral Group employs 1,500 staff in Cardiff and 1,100 in Swansea, and chief executive Henry Engelhardt said the company is going "from strength to strength."
Founded in 1993, it is currently the only FTSE 100 company with its headquarters in Wales. Last year its turnover was £824 million, and it has 1.5m customers.
It has been listed among the Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For for seven years and the Financial Times 50 Best Workplaces for six years.
