SINCE its first performance Over the Rainbow - story of the late American singer Eva Cassidy - has received rapturous receptions.
Starring Faye Tozer of Steps as Cassidy and Irish singer Rose-Marie as her mother Barbara, the show comes to Cardiff’s St David’s Hall tomorrow night.
By the time of her death in 1996, she was largely unknown outside her native Washington but she was “discovered’ posthumously and her haunting interpretation of Somewhere Over the Rainbow went to the top of the charts.
This compelling, award-winning musical play journeys through her life, from her idyllic childhood growing up in a musical family, to her studio work with boyfriend and mentor Chris Biondo; to the exuberant live recording of Blues Alley and finally to her tragically premature death to melanoma at the age of 33.
This story features over 27 of her best loved songs recreated by a multi-talented cast of West End performers.
Tickets cost £17.50 and are now available on www.stdavidshallcardiff.co.uk or from the box office on 029 2087 8444.
