STAFF at a Newport office furniture company got out the spray paint to mark a breast cancer charity's In The Pink awareness yesterday.
But it was not the traditional prank of spraying people's hair pink at the city's branch of Bisley Office Equipment - this was industrial-strength spray paint, used to turn a consignment of filing cabinets pink.
The Bisley factory in Newport, which employs 500 people, is the largest manufacturer of workplace office storage systems in Europe and staff have been raising money this month, breast cancer awareness month, for the charity Breast Cancer Care.
There is a demand out there for pink filing cabinets, and many of the Bisley consignment are destined for customers in the United States.
Spray day coincided with the charity's In The Pink day and followed a sustained effort by Julie Sansom, Vicky Jones and Samantha Leighton, of the Newport site's human resource department, who have been baking and selling pink fairy cakes, raising more than £200.
"Bisley is happy to be associated with such a worthy cause," said Phil Westcott, Bisley's group human resource manager.
Around 200 people a month in Wales are diagnosed with breast cancer. Breast Cancer Care provides information and support, and campaigns for improved standards of care. It runs a free helpline - 0808 800 6000 - and a website at www.breastcancercare.org.uk
