A NEWPORT nursing home can look forward to a brighter future thanks to the artwork of primary school children.
Work to complete the Linc-Cymru nursing home, at Capel Court, Pill is still going on but this week seven poetic murals were unveiled at the site.
The artworks were inspired by Leisure, the most famous poem penned by Newport poet William Henry Davies, depicting nature and wildlife scenes.
They were designed by pupils from St Michaels RC School and Pill Primary as well as those living on Capel Court.
The Linc-Cymru nursing home will provide a 70 bed community to help meet care and support needs in Newport.
The city council have helped fund the £5.1 million project which is scheduled to open in June next year.
The Nursing Home will be built over three floors and 12 of its 70 beds will be dedicated EMI (elderly, mentally infirm) nursing beds. All other beds within the scheme will be geared towards general nursing.
The scheme will incorporate features such as a sensory garden and sensory room aimed at stimulating residents as much as possible. It will also provide a general secluded garden, in-house cinema and activity rooms.
