AFTER three half-marathons in five weeks, Sparkle Appeal fundraiser Julie Knight could be forgiven for taking it easy - but she is already looking forward to next April's London Marathon.
The 40-year-old Gwent Healthcare Trust physiotherapist, who works with learning disabled adults, has pounded the streets of Bristol, Tyneside and Cardiff in a total of seven hours and 10 minutes and, organised a coffee morning at Work Well Enterprise, a learning disability training and opportunities centre in Cwmbran. She says the fundraising total is approaching £2,000.
Behind Mrs Knight's three runs have been countless miles and hours of training, but she says the experience has been "very enjoyable."
"I've met lots of great people and it has been very hard work, but rewarding, and Sparkle is such an important cause," she said.
The appeal is raising money to help equip the £6 million South Gwent Children's Centre at High Cross, which is scheduled to open next September and which will cater for more than 1,200 disabled youngsters in Newport, Torfaen and south Monmouthshire.
"I'd like to thank everyone who has supported me. I've got an entry for the London Marathon next April, and that will be an big challenge," said Mrs Knight.
