WE must say well done to Julie Knight today for her remarkable efforts in raising money for the Sparkle appeal.
She has now completed three half-marathons in five weeks and is already training for April’s London Marathon.
The 40-year-old Gwent Healthcare Trust physiotherapist, who works with learning disabled adults, has run in Bristol, Tyneside and Cardiff.
She’s clocked up seven hours and 10 minutes of running and has still found the time to organise a coffee morning at Work Well Enterprise, a learning disability training and opportunities.
So far her fundraising total is approaching £2,000.
As Argus readers know, the Sparkle appeal is raising money to help equip the £6 million South Gwent Children's Centre at High Cross.
It will cater for more than 1,200 disabled youngsters in Newport, Torfaen and south Monmouthshire.
Every penny will be vital and it is the efforts of people like Julie Knight that will ensure the centre can provide a vital service for children and their families.
Well done Julie. We hope her story inspires others to do something to help raise money for this much needed facility.
