A YOUNG carer was been recognised by a charity as an achiever of the year.
17-year-old Terrence Edwards has been looking after his grandfather Terrance Allington since he was 11.
Mr Edwards couldn't attend school as much as others children, but after joining Rathbone Cymru's learning centre in Newport he is now working towards an NVQ in elderly care.
The charity gave him their Achiever of the Year award at a ceremony last week.
He said: "I just enjoy looking after people and seeing them getting better."
In the future Mr Edwards hopes to go into nursing, and says he is looking to start an access to nursing course.
Rathbone Cymru helps young people enter training, education or employment. Further information is available at www.rathboneuk.org.
