PUPILS at Fairwater Comprehensive school are pictured here making a start on their new medieval garden.
The children, part of the Cwmbran schools' inclusion unit, are working with members of the Newport Ship restoration team to construct the space.
Among the features of the garden are new benches for the children as well as a mural which is being produced by Ms Davies.
Lindy Davies, the organisation's resident artist, says the project is designed to boost awareness of the Newport Ship. The garden will be complete within four week.
She said: "I hope it will give them a little place where they can go and relax."
