WE hope the sentence imposed David Gibson sends out a warning to anyone thinking of causing trouble at football games.

Gibson was banned for three years from all soccer grounds after admitting using threatening words and behaviour with intent to provoke violence after the Cardiff and County cup clash last February.

He was one of a number of men who caused trouble after what should have been an enjoyable event for many families attending.

Football trouble will never be tolerated and thankfully we have come a long way from those ugly scenes which were a regular occurrence at grounds in the 1970s and 1980s.

We hope the real fans never shy away from shopping these troublemakers.

They not only spoil the fun of so many who attend matches but also tarnish the name of football as a whole.

We know that the majority of County fans are well-behaved but they are let down by a handful of idiots.

They are not fans and they are not supporters.

The sooner they are out of our stadiums the better and this sentence should send out all the right signals.
