INVESTIGATIONS are still under way to determine the cause of a gas explosion at a house in Blaenavon which injured three people.
The blast occurred at an end terrace house in Hillside Avenue and blew off the front door and window frame.
The injured men were named locally as brothers Owen and Phillip Coslett and Delwyn Bright.
Owen remained in a critical condition in the burns unit of Morriston hospital, Swansea, last night while the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) tried to determine the cause.
Residents told the Argus all three men were able to get out of the house by themselves following the explosion at 12.30am on Monday and were the taken to Nevill Hall Hospital.
Two were later discharged, but Owen, 57, was transferred to Morriston.
Owen's family told the Argus on Monday that he was suffering with burns to his hands, arms, face legs and back and would require skin graft surgery.
A spokeswoman for South Wales fire and rescue service said the fire was not being treated as suspicious and had been handed to the HSE for investigation.
She added: "The HSE are now handling the investigation so we cannot publish our findings as it may compromise the overall investigation."
A spokesman for HSE said no cause of the explosion had yet been determined, and the investigation into the cause was ongoing so they were unable to comment any further.
