Women in Newport donated gifts to suffering children and their parents.
Unwanted items for babies and children, such as toys, cotton wool, wipes, prams, cots and high chairs, were brought into Bethel Community Church, on Stow Hill in Newport, to be sent away to families in need.
Barnardo’s Children’s Charity will now distribute the gifts to children suffering from poverty, abuse and discrimination.
The church hosted “Shine Baby Shower” as part of their women’s conference last week, which was attended by people from all over the country.
Sammy Bryan, 22, who helped organise the collection, said: “We had a massive response and people brought things from nappies to beds and strollers. It was nice to have such a generous offering to give to Barnados.”
Sally Jenkins, Assistant Director, Barnardo’s Cymru said: “Barnardo’s Cymru runs the Young Families project in Newport, working with parents aged between 16 and 21 who are living in supported housing.
"The gifts from the Shine Women’s conference will make a big difference to these young parents, who often struggle to pay for basic equipment.”
