AN ANIMAL sanctuary in Cwmbran is planning to transform an unused barn at its site into a brand new education centre.
The Barn Regeneration project, run by the All Creatures Great and Small organisation in Llanfrechfa, will see one of its barns turned into a teaching room with toilet facilities.
It is hoped the scheme will allow schools and community groups to access an education centre to learn about pet awareness as well as the heritage of the local farming community.
The project has made it through to compete in The People’s Millions contest for Big Lottery fund money worth £250,000.
The contest will see five groups in Wales awarded up to £50,000 each from The People’s Millions, which will be broadcast on the ITV Wales Tonight evening news programme.
Representatives from the All Creatures Great and Small animal sanctuary will be appearing on Monday, November 24, to make their pitch for the money.
Telephone voting lines will open at 9am on the day the projects are due to appear on ITV and winners will be announced the following day.
