CAERPHILLY Council has made itself look very silly in the row it is having with the Royal British Legion.
The council wants to close roads in Newbridge for an hour and a quarter for the annual Remembrance Parade.
The Legion said it needs two hours for the parade.
And for the sake of just 45 minutes the council looks very stubborn.
It is bureaucracy gone mad. The council had hidden behind those dreaded health and safety words but we did not hear any decent explanation as to why the roads couldn’t be closed for an extra three quarters of an hour on a Sunday morning.
This parade has been going on for decades without any problems.
And it is essential it continues so our younger generations understand the sacrifices that were made by so many.
It is a ridiculous row that should never have happened.
The only thing it achieved was to make the council look like it was run by jobsworths.
Common sense has gone out of the window and the council is in grave danger of insulting all those who fought and died for their country.
