A LOVING Newport father died after suffering a massive heart attack in his home aged just 41.
Heath McDonnell, known as Macky, was found unconscious on his bathroom floor by his wife Theresa, 40, on October 20.
The dad of three and step-father of four was said to be in good health despite suffering flu in the days before he died.
His wife said she is so devastated she can't enter the master bedroom of their Maesglas home.
She said: "I just can't go into the bedroom, that's the worst place. To see his jeans still on the floor and his cough medicine by the bed."
Since her husband's death, Mrs McDonell has slept at a neighbour's home as well as the family caravan parked in the front garden.
"He was such a hard working man. He always had a smile on his face," she said.
"He would do anything for anyone and he was a great father."
Mr and Mrs McDonnell were together for 14 years and married in June 2007 at Newport Registry Office.
Mr McDonnell used to run his own business at Gwent Food Machinery, repairing equipment at chip shops, takeaways and restaurants throughout south Wales.
For the past four years Mr McDonnell worked at SCA making boxes at Newport docks.
His wife said Mr McDonnell had felt unwell in the days before his death, but was otherwise fit and well.
"He had a toothache and took some paracetamol. He went to the toilet and he thought it was to be sick."
She said she heard a bang and went to the bathroom and saw her husband lying on the floor.
"I called a neighbour and she phoned the ambulance.
"My nephew was here and he was doing mouth to mouth and I was pressing down on his chest."
Paramedics arrived shortly after.
"They treated him on the bathroom floor for 20 minutes, the landing for 20 minutes then in the ambulance and at the Gwent. They electric shocked him four times in front of me but I knew he was gone."
Mr McDonnell is survived by children Kallum 20 and twins Ashley and Ross 18. He was also step father to Christopher 23, Blaine, 21, Julie 19 and Carlos, 15.
His funeral will be held Monday November 3 at St John's Church in Maindee at 2pm. Mourners are requested to wear clothing associated with Leeds United FC, Mr McDonnell's favourite team.
