COME along to Newport Market from 11am tomorrow and cheer on our Search for a Star hopefuls in the live audition.
The aim of the competition, run by the Argus in conjunction with Newport Council and Red Dragon Radio, is to find a singer to switch on Newport's Christmas lights on November 16.
Now we've narrowed it down to 12 people, all set to battle it out against each other at the live audition.
Three lucky finalists will be chosen, their performance will be filmed and posted on the Argus website on Monday afternoon and members of the public can vote via the website or text message for the winner.
The star will get to switch on the lights with the Mayor of Newport Councillor Noel Trigg and the mayors guest and perform on the large stage in front of thousands of people.
Full details on the final three and how to vote for them will appear in Monday's paper.
The winner will be announced the following week and will headline the Christmas festivities which include street entertainers, seasonal markets, live music, dancers, entertainers and a firework finale.
All are invited to the market to cheer on Rachel Ann Keys, 23 from Newport; Sophie Harris, 16 from Sudbrook; Laura Hancock, 18 from New Inn; Shelby Morgan, 14 from Newport; Amy Robins, 14 from Blaina; Becky Barnbrook, 17 from Newport; Matt Clements, 16 from Bassaleg; Emma Hughes, 23 from Risca; Jo Barber, 47 from Abersychan; Clay Howell, 24 from Newport; Becki Nash, 18 from Cwmbran; Lauren Watkins, 15 from Malpas.
