A NEWPORT nursery welcomed a special guest to their Pink Day in aid of Breast Cancer Awareness.

Mini-Me Day Care Nursery, in Church Road, had a day full of pink-themed activities last week to help raise money for the charity.

Lucy Perry, one of the carers, said: “We had a pram walk for the babies in the nursery and a sponsored treasure hunt finding pink ribbons for the older children. We also had a raffle and guess the name of the pink teddy.”

Olympic runner, Christian Malcolm, popped in to lend his support to the nursery’s fundraising efforts.

Elsewhere in Newport, construction workers pulled up their pink clothes to raise money for charity.

Workers at the new Bellway Homes’ Broadheath community wore pink t-shirts and papered their hard hats to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness.

Shovels and a digger were even decorated with pink ribbon to mark the occasion.

Bellway Homes is creating 240 new homes at Broadheath which includes a new community centre, shops, police station, pharmacy, take-away and a multipurpose games area as part of a £20 million investment in partnership with Newport City Council.
