THE husband of an elderly Monmouthshire woman who died after being seriously injured in a car crash said she will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Angela Hughes, 72, from Trellech Grange, near Chepstow, had only moved to the area a few years ago with her husband Peter, when the pair decided to retire.
Mrs Hughes died at Nevill Hall Hospital, Abergavenny, at 5.50am on Thursday, October 30 and suffering serious head injuries when the black Daihatsu Sirion she was driving was involved in a collision.
The accident happened north of Cobbler’s Plain on the B4293, Llanishen, at 12.50pm on Tuesday, October 28.
Mr Hughes, 64, said his wife was very highly regarded both professionally and personally and he had received many messages of support following her death.
Before she retired Mrs Hughes worked as a speech and language therapist manager for a company in Berkshire where the couple lived for many years.
They moved to their home in Trellech Grange following their retirement in 2001.
Mr Hughes told how his wife became very involved in the local community and was once the chairwomen of amateur dramatic group Off Centre Theatre, based in Monmouth.
Mr Hughes said: “She will be most greatly missed, not just by me but by the community of Monmouthshire, ex-colleagues, family and friends.”
Mrs Hughes’ funeral will take place in Reading where the couple spent most of their married life together.
Anyone who witnessed the collision or believe they have information which could help police with their enquiries is asked to call Gwent Police on 01633 838111 or the collision investigation unit on 01633 643091.
